Puʻuokapolei was the location of the largest and most sacred heiau in all the ahupuaʻa of Honouliuli. It was a place of governance and was also the location of the home of a konohiki. Puʻuokapolei served as a landmark for travelers and a place of solar observation in determining the seasons. There lies a hula mound that is used for cultural Hawaiian cultural practitioners.

The Ulu Aʻe Learning Center hosts monthly workdays to maintain the area. We invite the community to help us with: litter removal, graffiti cleaning, weed elimination, grass cutting, and plant restoration.
