YEAH Program Member
Position Overview

Member Activities:
This position seeks any young adults ages 16-24 whom enjoys mechanical work, and is looking for vocational training in the green job sector and are interested in energy conservation, renewable energy, sustainable living, environmental job opportunities, or wants to learn more about Hawaii’s special energy circumstances and sustaining Hawaii’s unique natural environment. The selected members will work closely with YEAH Director and the YEAH Field Supervisor, and affiliated organizations Kanu Hawaii, and Blue Planet Foundation to perform the following activities:
Residential Efficiency Program (85%):
- Participate in YEAH program orientation and introductory training(s).
- Note: Energy Assessment training must be successfully completed in order to participate in the program.
- Conduct effective and efficient energy assessments and/or audits and help work to create a Hawaii based energy assessment tool kit.
- Work with audit consultant(s) and fellow YEAH team members to assure accurate data collection, reporting and for the effective and efficient installation of weatherization kits.
- Assist in completion of all forms/requirements for the Hawaii Energy Study and YEAH program.
- Install energy conservation measures as directed by energy audit consultant(s) and field supervisor, including: showerheads, aerators, compact florescent light bulbs, power strips, and other home kit and retrofit(s) as deemed appropriate by Hawaii Energy Study partners.
- Provide information to customers on available incentives and additional resources as deemed appropriate by HES partners.
- Support Hawaii Energy Study partners through follow up on program quality assurance activities including assembling all required forms, surveys, audits, home inspections and reports for project completion, as appropriate.
- Administrative Duties (10%)
- Keep company vehicle(s) clean and neat both inside and out when used for YEAH program purposes.
- Assure all tools and equipment is kept in good working order.
- Log material needs and concerns to ensure quality work materials are available for energy audits and weatherization kit installations.
- Updating contact database
- Completing assessment forms
- Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
The YEAH Program member required to have/be:
- Able to conduct self in a professional manner.
- Available to start the interview, orientation and training processes in November 1 2011 and work until December 2011, with extension possible into 2012.
- Well organized
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Basic understanding of energy consumption, conservation and efficiency measures.
- Ability to work flexible working hours, including some evenings and most weekends.
- Ability to work independently to achieve program goals.
- Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation to and from staging area.
- Motivated to achieve high levels of individual and team performance.
- Excellent problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions, including ability to understand the specific goals and needs of the program.
