Kim’s Story

Kim Matsukawa has been part of the Kupu ʻohana for 14 years—and she’s not only keeping things running behind the scenes as Executive Assistant to the CFO, but she’s also stepping up personally to support Kupu’s mission as a monthly donor.

Kim believes deeply in what Kupu stands for—and that’s why she gives back. Month after month, her generosity helps provide hands-on learning, green job training, and cultural connection for youth across Hawaiʻi.

“Kupu invests in Hawaiʻi’s future by giving youth and young adults opportunities to care for the land and develop a meaningful career.” Kim says. “I’ve seen first-hand how Kupu changes lives.”

Her journey with Kupu is both professional and personal. One of her favorite memory dates back to 2013—removing invasive plants with the Hawai‘i Youth Conservation Corps Summer Team on Kaua‘i and visiting the original site of the Hale Pili, now preserved in the Bishop Museum.

Through her role, Kim also connected with inspiring partners like Mālama Maunalua and the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai‘i, where she continues to volunteer her time and passion.

Join Kim— Fuel hands-on learning, cultural connection, and green careers for Hawaiʻi’s youth—starting now.
